EMPOWER,  INSPIRE, & UPLIFT THE 75216 SUPERBLOCK.

Our Story

BOSS HOGG FOUNDATION was founded in July 2023 by Oak Cliff native and SMU History Doctoral Candidate, Brianna Hogg, to honor the lives and legacies of her uncle, Willie Hogg, and her aunts, Polly Johnson and Helen Hogg, who were promoted to ANCESTOR status in 2017, 2020, and 2021, respectively. These three individuals were influential in Brianna’s upbringing & raising until their transitions.

The Foundation seeks to pay tribute to their legacies of kindness, perseverance, and hope by supporting the youth and families in the 75216 Superblock community. To this end, the Foundation supports these missions by:

  • Funding college scholarships for first-gen female seniors at South Oak Cliff High School who, like Brianna, decided to improve their families’ futures by pursuing higher education.

  • Partnering with community organizations and Brianna's high school alma mater, South Oak Cliff High School, to provide resources for students and their families affected by homelessness.

  • Raising funds to support the needs of the students of South Oak Cliff High School and residents of the 75216 Superblock.

PROGRAMS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

BHF College Readiness Initiative was created to support high school students, especially first-generation college students, transition into college. In addition to college readiness support, BHF will send care packages to college students to help them and support them during their midterm/final exams.

The aim of the BHF Community Engagement Events is to bring the community together by hosting networking opportunities, pop up shops/community markets, and partnering with schools to support their students (i.e. SOC Cynthia Herschkowitsch Christmas Party)

The aim of the BHF Mentorship Retreat Initiative is to connect our youth to mentors and support them throughout their journey through life.

The BHF Scholarship Fund will support first-generation college students at South Oak Cliff High School to pursue their college degrees. The BHF HMH Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of the Founder's aunt, Helen Marie Hogg, who unexpectedly passed away on July 12, 2021 due to Lupus.
